Day 15: Significant memories of my childhood

Now that I think about it, the most normal moments make the most significant memories of my childhood. (This is very random, but this sentence would have sounded a lot cooler in Korean - 생각해보니까, 가장 평범한 순간들은 가장 상당한 추억이 되었다. ).

I remembered when I was still very young, I liked going to my neighbour's house. Once, I even sneaked out of my house to go there! He has a sister two years younger than we are, so we got along really well. There was this one day when we decided we wanted to be Power Rangers. Our transformation involved jumping from their wardrobe to the mattress below it. Now that we are older and bigger, that wardrobe would not be that high. But back then, we were very small and jumping from that height already gave us a lot of fun and adrenaline(?).

I also remembered how we used to cycle around the neighbourhood every afternoon. There were, I think, 5 of us, all same-aged friends. Sometimes, it was as simple as racing each other. Sometimes we would bring out some of our toys in the baskets on our bicycle and play pretend with those at a nearby gazebo. Now, that I'm older I envy the imagination of young ones. It provided lots of joy even when we didn't have much.

If primary 6 is still considered childhood, then yes, I had a very significant memory from then. One night, when sleep took its time to come, I was suddenly struck with an inspiration to make a musical for our farewell ceremony at school. At that time, my brother was still in kindergarten, so my children's songs repertoire was vast. Hence, the musical was mostly filled with children's songs. The practice was the best. It was mostly having fun with friends. At that period, I made jelly almost every day for no particular reason. On the day when I made the mango-flavoured one, one of my actors said that he liked jelly except for the mango-flavoured one. He ate the most that day.

Ah, those were really good times. I also did a lot of stupid things back then but even those only leave fond memories now. I was lucky to have such a simple but fulfilling childhood with those friends.
