I can't recall the exact year, but I remembered my dad actually set-up a blog for me when I was in primary school. He knew that I enjoyed writing, so he made an account specifically to make that blog. He told me to post my poems and short stories there but Internet connection at home back then depended on the modem my dad brought along to work. It didn't work out well because of that limitation, I think I ended up only using the blog once or twice. It's a pity that I can't even remember the link to that blog, would've been fun if I could find that and read what I wrote then.
Fast forward to 2011. I had the honour to receive a scholarship to Singapore. And for that, I had to improve my English. Quickly. A fellow grantee made a blog to post his writings and I quite enjoyed reading them. So, I followed along and the rest is history.
Since my original objective of having this blog is to improve my English, my early posts looked like I was doing some English composition test. And if I reread them, I think I would have cringed because of all the opinions of my young mind and the mistakes made.
However, the posts soon evolved to a hot mess of a mix of anything under the sun. I post when I'm upset. I post when I'm happy. I post when I like something. This blog has become an outlet of expression when I can't really turn to anyone around me, be it due to the fear of burdening them or my pride. Thanks to this blog, I have times and times again lessened the intensity of my vexation. If not, maybe I would have drowned in my own feelings. For that, I am grateful to have the option of writing my thoughts here.
Today's post is really something. Thinking back, it turned out that I have come to appreciate this blog very much (despite the very parse update). It's also nice to be reminded that my dad supported me even though we did not talk that much back then. Guess it was a good decision doing this 30-day challenge!
