Such a heavy topic after pulling an all-nighter TT. This is also a topic I'm not very comfortable with, something I like to avoid whenever it comes up. Such discussion will most likely lead to never-ending arguments and I end up having my emotions run high. Nevertheless, I have to do it for the sake of this challenge!
Sure, each religion has its own god. They are all different, but the bottom line is they teach kindness (but then again most atheists also have kindness ingrained in them!). I'm pretty sure there are many apologists that will attack this single paragraph. I have heard their arguments too, they make sense but at the same time, I'm not intelligent enough to follow. So, this aspect of religion I can't really argue about now.
The simplest answer, for now, is that it serves as an answer to the unknown and comfort in times of uncertainty. I guess the existence of religion has also helped to put some order in this chaotic world.
But then again, many unrests nowadays are also caused by religion. People are making religion god, instead of the god they are supposed to worship. It's ridiculous. The fine line between worshipping god and the religion itself is getting thinner.
The idea of religion is actually a good one. Claims about god can't be really proven since we are limited and imperfect human-beings after all. What we should do with our religion is to follow them faithfully so as to live in harmony with other people instead of focusing on the differences!
P.S. This post is made by a very sleepy author who did not have her nap today even after an all-nighter. Please excuse the incoherence. The author even forgot a point she wanted to put in as she was typing that very sentence. Bottom line: the author could not properly convey her views on this topic because of lack of sleep and also this is a DIFFICULT topic.
