Bee & Flowers

It is no secret that bees and flowers have mutualistic symbiosis. I guess, that reflects nicely in my team, our team of only 1 guy among 6 other girls. The name "Bee & Flowers" served our Team 24 well, the good relations among us truly happened and I couldn't be more grateful for that. So, in this blogpost I will talk about what I felt during the Global Audit Simulation held by Sunway TES, also my first ever visit to Malaysia.

The first two days were pretty much uneventful. We arrived and had briefings, campus tour, etc. Nothing special, except for meeting someone who turned out to be a friend of my friend.

The third day was when the good things started. We were all quite awkward with each other at first because we were all strangers! Even though most of my teammates are from the same school, they've never known each other's names before. But life was good, we naturally worked side by side with each other and had some small talks with each other. It was a great beginning.

The following days came and went like a blur. We spent around 14 hours a day together, working on tests of controls and substantive procedures we never knew how to do. The work was very taxing but it was okay because we had each other's back. They were mostly speaking in Chinese, but that was okay because someone always make sure to translate. There were lots of confusion too, but it was okay because we put our heads together when needed.

Can you believe that I was actually the optimist of the group? I, who barely believes in myself most of the time, was told that I gave the group positive energy to finish the great task. Can you believe that this was the first time in years that I (or more so my accent) was called cute? I think my mom will flip if she hears this. Can you believe that I cried when I had to part ways with these people I only knew for over a week? They were the best ever, even though I don't know too deeply about these people, even though we were not the most outgoing people in the whole lot, even though we may never talk to each other again. I am really grateful for getting to experience this, for meeting 6 wonderful people, for feeling these emotions. I felt their warmth and sincerity. I felt loved and appreciated. These feelings, I will never forget.

LHY, HN, Huei, CG, OZH, TYS, if any of you ever read this, thank you.
LHY, thank you for being the brother I never had, calling me cute and treating me to frozen yoghurt on my last day.
HN, thank you for being the patient one in the chaotic simulation, showing us your quiet determination.
Huei, thank you for trying so hard for our group and speaking in English to me when you are clearly not very comfortable with it.
CG, thank you for being the first one greeting me, it really helped break the ice. And if we had met in another circumstance, I think we could have been good friends.
OZH, thank you for your wisdom and determination. It was really fun talking to you, and please eat your dinner!
TYS, thank you for being my partner and meal buddy, reminding me on things I forgot and making lots of small conversations with me.

I went to Malaysia hating the fact that I had to do the simulation, but left with a heavy heart after knowing all of you. Thank you for being such wonderful people.
