I love movies/dramas with happy endings.
Happy ending, to me, means the lost get found, or it is at least hinted that the main characters' relationship works out, perhaps even where the superhero managed to save the day (albeit the great damage the city suffers). I used to ask myself "when will I get my own happy ending?". But the more I think about it, isn't this happy ending we've been imagining just means a start to yet another chapter?
I don't know, man. This thought just randomly crossed my mind again when I was watching "Our Beloved Summer" (it's good, btw. Might be a candidate to be one of my favourite dramas ever!). I haven't watched this till the end, even so, let's just say the two main characters end up marrying each other in the last episode. You and I probably would say, "Ah, this is a drama with a happy ending". But then, what happened next? Won't they have to adapt to seeing each other more often than ever? Won't they have arguments here and there? Won't they also have more happy moments coming their way?
Also, I feel like a "happy ending" in real life may not be as stereotypical as we have always thought. Consider this, we consider a film having a happy ending when people can become or stay together with their loved one. Nemo reunited with his father, Cinderella married the prince, the Ssangmun-dong squad stayed friends even as they grow older. Like, they gotta end up with someone else, you know? But perhaps, for a person who has been feeling trapped in a relationship, finally managing to move out and live alone might be the happy ending he/she has been waiting for. Or maybe a happy ending comes in the form of finally getting the courage to quit and start at a new job ¯\_(γ)_/¯. And again, after this happy ending comes yet another adventure none of us knows how it will turn out!
Heh, this post is not insightful as usual. Just wanted to write it down because it sounded brilliant when it was just still chilling in my brain π . Anyways, if there's anything to take from this post, we need to remember that real life is not movies; it only truly ends when we take our last breath. No need to be too vexed about a failure or disappointment because it is only a sad ending for this chapter. There will still be many more happy endings waiting for us in the future! With that, I also wish you all a lot more joy this year and the years to come :)
