As always, she gave a clue about the song from her point of view. Some capitalized alphabets show the clue : I CRIED WHILE RECORDING THIS.
This ballad is actually dedicated for her best friend : Abigail. This song contains heartbreak, the feeling of being a freshman. Well, I think that's the main reason she cried while recording this song. However, no matter how beautiful and touching this song is, Taylor Swift tried to caution us, especially girls, not to fall in love easily. And in my opinion this song also tells us not to give up just because of a heartbreak, we can do things greater than 'dating a boy on the football team'. The world is big and it means that we have a lot of opportunity to do extraordinary things.
Just like the song 'Never Grow Up', I find a relation between my life and the lyrics of this song. In a few hours I will be fifteen, and soon I will have to face freshman year in a completely new environment and atmosphere. And I am going to be in that town for the next four years. What a coincidence!
You take a deep breath and you walk through the doors
It's the morning of your very first day
And you say hi to your friends you ain't seen in a while
Try and stay out of everybody's way
It's your freshman year
And you're gonna be here for the next four years in this town
Hoping one of those senior boys will wink at you and say
"You know, I haven't seen you around, before"
One thing that doesn't fit with my story is that there will be no senior boys winking at their junior girls since there will be no boys at my school, it's an all girl school after all. Expecting that kind of hope is useless for me.
Well, this is all I can tell you about Taylor Swift's "Fifteen" and a piece of my life. Hope you enjoy :)
