The album’s booklet shows a hint about the real meaning of the song. Some capitalized alphabets in the lyrics form a phrase: I MOVED OUT IN JULY. So, this song was written to express the feeling of loneliness when she spent the first night in her first apartment of her own.
In the other hand, another source reveals that the song was written for an infant. The song is simply a sweet lullaby with a hint of sadness or even wary adult bitterness.
In my opinion, this song is kind of related to my life. Sometimes I just want to break free and call my own shot. Unexpectedly, that wish comes true. In a month or so, I will leave my family to pursue a better education. Well, I’m not going to stay in an apartment. Nevertheless, there will be a feeling of loneliness. At this state, I just wish I would never grow up. But one thing for sure: I will do some things from the lyrics.
Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother’s favorite songs
I just realized everything I have are someday gonna be gone
So this is my point of view about “Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift. Hope you enjoy :)
