Anyways, it's my 17th birthday :)
Being a seventeen year old in Indonesia is quite a big thing as we can (finally) get our Identification Card and vote in the elections. However, being seventeen years old is especially significant for Indonesian girls. Many girls celebrate their sweet seventeen grandly, some are even grander (is there such a word?) than the most classy wedding that I have ever attended. I really don't get the point of having a big big party for one night, while the money can be spent to buy something that is more useful. Well, contrary to those lucky girls who get to celebrate their birthdays with family and friends, I'm kind of stuck here ._. It's not that I'm sad because I can't celebrate my birthday, I just don't like it because I have to study for my O-levels on my birthday ㅜㅜ.
Well, a year has passed since I posted Now or Never, a post about my sixteenth birthday. Heck, I can even remember the times when I wrote Fifteen 2 years ago. Time sure flies, and this is exactly why we have to cherish every little moments that we have. Here's a little something that we can reflect on about time (my mom sent me this) :
To know the importance of a YEAR, ask a student who flunk and has to retain
To know the importance of a MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby
To know the importance of a WEEK, ask an editor of a weekly magazine
To know the importance of a DAY, ask a day laborer
To know the importance of an HOUR, ask a couple of lovers who are waiting to meet each other
To know the importance of a MINUTE, ask a person who just missed his or her flight
To know the importance of a SECOND, ask a person who just had a narrow escape from an accident
To know the importance of a MILLISECOND, ask an Olympic silver medalist
See, even a millisecond can be very important. Then, a LOT of things can happen in a year. I've changed so much just in this one year. I loved One Direction for a period, and now I only like them. I started liking One Direction after listening to 'Little Things', a 3 minutes and 37 seconds song. I started liking k-pop around the middle of this year just because a 3 minutes and 30 seconds song. My music preference is one of the little things that changes in this one year, and these changes were caused by a super short period of time, less than 4 minutes. That's just how important every moment in life is, even a seemingly insignificant 3 minutes and 30 minutes can cause a long-lasting change.
To end this post, I want to show you this kind of old k-pop song. What I interpret from this song is that the people in the story regretted the fact that they did not cherish their time together in the past, and thus wanting to go back to the good old days. So, appreciate every moment with your loved ones~
Well, enjoy the song ㅅ.ㅅ
