Malay and Me : Encouragement =D

Well, basically this article is a response, actually more like a gratitude, to some people who succeeded to encourage me to get through a MAJOR problem in my life, Bahasa Melayu. It is true that my journey with Bahasa Melayu has not ended yet, but at least I've finished the normal Malay O-level :D

Once, I said that Bahasa Melayu was my biggest enemy. That was the only thing that I
put emphasis to about Bahasa Melayu although, in some ways, it could be my friend. But why do I 'hate' it so much? It's because Bahasa Melayu is so similar yet so different from Bahasa Indonesia. It's just quite weird that you can't do well on something that, in a way, you have known for life. But then, the differences are the obstacle in this case. I've changed my mind set. Bahasa Melayu was and is simply something that I want to get over with. If I can do well for Malay in secondary school, then I won't have to take Bahasa Melayu as a subject in JC anymore :)

Even though this 'struggle' hasn't ended but I want to make this learning process fun :) I can write narrative composition, which is way more fun than writing expository. And when I do this, I can imagine myself as a novelist, which is kind of cool :)

Some people who read my previous rant about Bahasa Melayu responded by sending me messages on Facebook or little notes. Well, to those who did. Thank you SO MUCH. You pulled me from the darkness. Okay, this sounds so exaggerated. But anyways, because of you, I can survive this whole Bahasa Melayu thing.

Anyway, the narrative question for today's exam was about how somebody who appreciate you can help you through your failure (at least this is how I interpret it). So, when I was trying to write the story, I also thought about the importance of encouragement in my life. I wouldn't be sitting for the exam this morning quite calmly without the encouragement that I received from my mom and some friends.

So, below is  a short video from Sesame Street. It is meant for children, but why not take the positive message from the song to encourage you? Don't ever give up :)
